DesignerCon, a premier trade show that attracts around 70,000 attendees to Anaheim each year, has announced that its 2024 convention will take place in the World Market Center in Las Vegas.

“Our longtime former location in Anaheim, CA, was an incredible place to build and grow DesignerCon into the world’s premier art, design, and collectibles destination,” said Ben Goretsky, DesignerCon’s founder, about the site that hosted the show for 18 years. “We anticipate that our new home in Vegas will allow us to make this year’s show the most remarkable and diverse DCon yet.”

Las Vegas is a world-famous tourist hub, seeing regular large-scale investment by world-class entertainment companies. “Las Vegas is becoming the entertainment capital of the world,” a DesignerCon spokesperson wrote in an email to the press. “And as a global entity, DesignerCon wanted to prioritize its new, permanent home in a location that is trusted, accessible, and accommodating for its vendors, artists, and worldwide fans.”

The city is already the location of a number of similar large-scale trade shows focusing on celebrity creators, art, and pop culture. This makes the city a strategic location for a show looking to attract more attendees and exhibitors. “Vegas is also the convention capital of the world,” wrote the DesignerCon spokesperson, going on to say that it “is very accessible travel-wise both with flights and on the ground within the city, and also offers world-class hotels and additional entertainment opportunities for guests throughout their stays.”

In the past, DesignerCon has attracted celebrity guests such as Jack Black, DJ Steve Aoki, and Kevin Durant. For 2024, the guest list includes Kasing Lung, the creator of Labubu, who will be making his first appearance at an American convention. Announced vendors and sponsors include the Good Smile Company, Medicom Toys, and Erostika.

The 19th DesignerCon has been billed as its “most artist-centric show to date,” and will involve the sale of exclusive products on the show floor, according to organizers.

Tickets for DesignerCon 2024 will go on sale this summer. The three-day show has yet to announce its full schedule, but it is set to take place across three days, November 15-17. If the 2023 show is any indication, the first day of the convention will be a Friday VIP-only night. The show is set to continue its tradition of bringing together diverse and dynamic booths, showcasing an intersection of art, design, collectibles, and pop culture personalities.

“Thank you to our new and returning partners and artists for their continued dedication to bringing the best art, design, and collectibles to DesignerCon,” Goretsky went on to say. “We look forward to welcoming our attendees to Vegas and unveiling further exciting updates and details of our expanded program in the coming months.”

As DesignerCon leaves Anaheim to move to its new permanent location in Las Vegas, it takes with it a history of celebrating urban, underground, and pop art design. If its ambitions for growth are achieved, the 2024 edition will be an attractive event for fans, artists, and vendors alike.
