Rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer-songwriter SZA announced a 2025 North American stadium tour with three stops in California that will likely feature songs from his chart-topping album GNX.
“GNX” and Lamar’s Beef With Drake
The release of GNX comes following Lamar’s rap beef with Drake, where the “Not Like Us” music video would tease “Squabble Up,” a song from the now-released album. His feud with Drake remains ongoing, with “Not Like Us” remaining the most popular with nearly 1 billion streams on Spotify alone and the music video boasting 184 million views on YouTube.
Drake’s “Family Matters” has more than 123 million streams on Spotify, and its music video has 41 million views on YouTube. The significant difference in popularity reportedly caused Drake to file a claim alleging that Universal Music Group, which is the distributing label for both musicians, amplified the popularity of Lamar’s single. Lamar is continuing to ride the wave of popularity brought on by the drama, and his album’s popularity certainly reflects that.
Overtaking Other Popular Releases
Coinciding with the release of the soundtrack for the Wicked movie on November 22, Lamar’s GNX quickly took center stage, with songs from the album occupying the top 7 spots on the US Spotify Streaming Chart that day. The album is Lamar’s fourth consecutive number one.
“Nearly 20 years in the industry, breaking record after record with acclaimed albums,” reviewer Mark Chinapen wrote of Lamar, “and in the case of his 2024 Drake beef, one stellar diss track after the other. Lamar knows who he is and where he stands in the rap game. He knows when he moves, everybody stops.”
The “Grand National Tour” Is Set for 2025
What Lamar calls his “Grand National Tour” will feature three shows in California, two in Los Angeles at the city’s SoFi Stadium on May 21 and 23, 2025, and a May 29 show in San Francisco at Oracle Park. The performance will likely involve songs from his newest album due to the inclusion of SZA, who features in the songs “luther” and “gloria.”

A Solid Album and an Anticipated Tour
“Personally,” Chinapen concluded, “this was the shake-up I think hip-hop needed at this point in 2024, following the aftermath of his and Drake’s public feud. GNX is going to have people talking and analyzing for months to come, as any Kendrick album does. Much like the Grand National it’s named after, GNX is a fast and furious project that will leave a lasting impression on you as time goes by.”
