As the seasons change, cooler days are approaching. Every fall offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, reset, and reconnect with loved ones. Whether by building healthier routines, adding warmth to a living space, or simply planning a restorative getaway, autumn is the best time to set the stage for small but meaningful life changes, prioritizing well-being. Here are three standout ways to embrace the season.

Cozy Textiles That Feel Like Art

While routines are reset indoors, many households want to refresh their spaces for the colder months. For design enthusiasts, We Might Be On Fire has emerged as a standout brand for combining bold visuals with everyday comfort.

Whether handwoven wool rugs or cotton blankets, every We Might Be On Fire product has been carefully curated to transform interiors into textured, art-inspired spaces.

Founder Shaun Watson explained, “We wanted our pieces to feel like they bring nature indoors.”

The company’s latest collections draw inspiration from produce markets and the landscapes of New Orleans. Alongside rugs and blankets, their new Italian-made sweaters offer another layer of warmth and artistry. Each piece is crafted to balance form, function, and soul, making them home accessories and statement designs to blend perfectly with any interior.

In addition to blankets and rugs, the brand’s reach has grown far beyond New Orleans, resonating with customers around the world. Pieces that feature local motifs, like rugs inspired by neighborhood bars, have found homes as far away as Denmark, proving that the designs capture not just local charm but also a universal appeal. Each product, whether cotton blanket or wool rug, is created with natural materials that ensure comfort and longevity.

As Watson explained, the key is staying true to authenticity: “Personally, I really like natural materials. I don’t really use any synthetic materials in any of our work because the way cotton wears over time is just really nice, and you can’t replicate that with synthetic materials.” For him, textiles should age gracefully, taking on the character of both the craft and the people who live with them.

A Relaxing Getaway

Fall is ideal for stepping outside the home for a short getaway with friends and family. The Hampton Windsor in Sonoma County is offering travelers a new way to experience wine country without the hassle of driving.

The Smart Way is a curated package that encourages car-free exploration via ferry and rail. Guests can enjoy wine tastings, brewery stops, and electric bike tours, all within easy reach of San Francisco.

“We designed this experience for people who want the beauty of wine country without the headache of driving,” said hotel representative Marlow Bruce.

This traffic-free getaway package is also dog-friendly, which makes it more appealing to city dwellers eager to travel with their pets while welcoming the fall with a slower pace. By shifting the focus from highways to railways, “The Smart Way” experience highlights Sonoma’s natural beauty in a new, more accessible, and sustainable way.

While the Sail & Rail package spotlights wine tastings and bike tours, the experience also introduces guests to Windsor itself. It’s a town often overlooked in favor of Healdsburg just a few miles away. By anchoring the getaway in Windsor, visitors can enjoy the same Sonoma wine country atmosphere at a more accessible price point, all while staying in a walkable community with boutique shops, breweries, and farm-to-table restaurants within minutes.

Bruce notes that sustainability underpins these choices: “Just being in Sonoma County and being part of the wine industry and the focus on regenerative farming and sustainably sourced grapes, it’s definitely something that’s first and foremost in our thinking when we put together experiences for our travelers.”

Resetting Kids’ Routines Through Sleep

With school schedules back in full swing, sleep has become a critical part of daily routines, particularly for children adjusting after the summer break. The Sleep to Live Well Foundation is addressing this challenge with its children’s book, Dr. Bedtime’s Sleep Magic.

The book reframes sleep as an empowering tool rather than a chore. “We wanted children to see sleep as something they control, not a punishment, and to feel proud of good sleep choices,” said Dr. Roger Washington, founder of the Sleep to Live Well Foundation.

Dr. Bedtime’s Sleep Magic blends colorful illustrations, rhyming narratives, and behavioral science to offer families practical strategies for reclaiming their bedtime. The book equips children with a sense of agency, and in this way, the Foundation is helping families set the stage for developing healthier habits that can last well beyond the fall season.

Beyond the book itself, the Foundation is channeling resources into community impact. Thousands of copies of both Dr. Bedtime’s Sleep Magic and the companion parent’s guide are being donated to classrooms and nonprofit organizations that support family health and wellness. By pairing bedtime storytelling with evidence-based practices, the initiative equips parents, teachers, and physicians with tools to make healthier sleep habits stick.

As Scarlet Nickhol shared, this broader mission is about accessibility: “We’re donating the book and making it available through sponsorship and nomination programs so that classrooms and communities can receive it.”

In this way, the Foundation reframes sleep not as a privilege, but as a resource every child can embrace.

A Season of Calmness and Connection

This fall brings diverse opportunities to recharge meaningfully. From helping children build healthier sleep habits to weaving warmth and artistry into daily life to exploring wine country without the stress of traffic, the season invites individuals and families to prioritize what matters most.

This fall offers more than cooler days, whether it means tucking kids in earlier, wrapping up in a handmade blanket, or boarding a train to a new destination. These simple lifestyle shifts can help individuals reconnect with healthy routines, warm spaces, and memorable experiences that bring lasting comfort and calm.
