On February 4, 2025, licensed cannabis wholesale platform Nabis announced the introduction of retail partnerships to its centralized distribution services. The new initiative began with two partnerships: a tech integration collaboration with the Dutchie point-of-sale platform and a centralized distribution solution for Embarc, a California-based cannabis retailer.
“Nabis’ mission has always been to provide scalable, compliant solutions that drive growth and efficiency across the cannabis market,” said company co-CEO and co-founder Vance C. Ning. “We see this expansion in our services not only as a collective investment in the digital and operational infrastructure of the future of cannabis retail and its community but also as a shared vision of elevating the industry’s standards and business practices across the board.”
What Is the Nabis Wholesale Platform?
Founded in 2018 by serial tech entrepreneurs Vince C. Ning and Jun S. Lee, Nabis is a prominent licensed cannabis wholesale platform that works with over 400 brands. To date, the wholesaler has supported over $1 billion worth of cannabis transactions across the United States.
Partnerships Reflecting a Business Vision
These two partnerships highlight core aspects of Nabis’ business, which focuses on providing distribution services and industry collaboration. Since its launch in 2017, Nabis has worked to address the challenges of wholesale cannabis distribution. In 2024, the company significantly expanded into New York and Nevada’s cannabis industries, and this year’s retail partnerships will build upon that expansion while growing the distribution ecosystem as a whole.
The Dutchie Partnership
With Dutchie, Nabis intends to provide retailers with integrated technology to improve purchasing potential, inventory management, and data analysis. This is made possible by incorporating Dutchie’s point of sale (POS) system into Nabis’ wholesale Marketplace platform. By combining their unique services, Nabis and Dutchie provide retailers with features ranging from automated order suggestions to custom pricing insights, contributing to developing an industry-leading supply chain.
“The cannabis retail landscape is constantly evolving, and the ability to adapt quickly to market demands is crucial for retailers,” Dutchie CEO Tim Barash explained. “This partnership is all about giving retailers the data and tools they need to remain competitive and efficient in an otherwise unpredictable industry.”
The Embarc Partnership
Nabis is also making waves through its second partnership with Embarc, one of California’s fastest-growing retailers. Their collaboration has resulted in the Nabis Centralized Distribution Hub, a centralized storage facility sorely needed by vendors working with Embarc. Before this collaboration, Embarc relied on multiple locations and a network of separate deliveries, but a central facility means easy distribution. Nabis’ 150,000-square-foot warehouse is equipped with more than 100 vehicles to facilitate speedy deliveries and reduce costs overall.
“We need a solution that allows our brand partners to scale with us in a way that does not overburden their distribution infrastructure,” said Jason Pitts, President of Supply Chain for Embarc. “Nabis’ centralized distribution solution creates operational efficiency for us and our brands while allowing our in-store teams to focus on maximizing the customer experience.”
A Collaborative Effort to Build an Industry
Overall, Nabis’ collaborative efforts reflect increased attention to the cannabis market throughout the country. As states continue to legalize medical and recreational cannabis consumption, the need to meet demand and retain product variety will only rise. Nabis’s services empower retailers to work more efficiently with their partners and incorporate custom automation for buying, adapting to rapid market change.
Companies like Nabis will be essential for cannabis distributors looking to achieve the same adaptation, as they can provide scalable solutions for every stage of the supply chain. Producers and retailers alike can benefit from the services Nabis delivers, and the partnerships the company builds may prove even more valuable to those involved.
